Mr. Alfred Richard Jones, a lifelong resident of Lake City, passed away, on Friday, December 22, 2023. at the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Born on October 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Betty Godbold Jones and Alfred Colquitt Jones. Richard was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1970. While his heart was in agriculture and farming, he was employed with the Board of County Commissioners for the past twenty-one years. He served on the board of Directors for Columbia County Farm Bureau for over forty years. He and his family were members of Watertown Congregational Methodist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Lynn Christie Jones, Lake City, FL; his son Robbie Jones (Katelyn) Lake City, FL; and two grandchildren Jayce and Ivey Jones. One brother Randy Jones (Wanda) Lake City, FL; and special cousins, Elaine Denmark (Chuck), and Frankie Sue Jones, both of Lake City, FL; Buddy GodBold (Karen) Baldwin, FL; and Judy Loeffler, Mims, FL; He also has two nephews, Bryan Jones (Michelle), and David Jones (Casey) both of Lake City, FL; and several great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Richard Jones will be conducted on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Lake City, FL. A time of visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening December 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
