Alex Bates Colson, 66, of Lake City, passed away on September 10, 2021 at the Lake City Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Lake City on March 3, 1955 to the late Linwood E. and Myrtis Butler Colson. He was the owner of the NAPA store in Newberry for over 38 years; loved cars and motorcycles and was an avid FSU fan. Alex had a "zest for life" and was a member of the CHS Class of 1973. He loved his heritage, his family and where they came from. He was known for his smoked Boston Butts as well as helping people in need. He also enjoyed going to kids baseball games and building things.

He is survived by his wife, Iris Colson; and family, Jason, Stephanie, Danon, Matthew and J.D. Dumas; two brothers, Randy (Ellie) Colson and Bruce (Laura) Colson. Two nephews, two nieces and many close friends also survive.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Colson will be conducted on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A private family interment was held last September.
