Albert Mitchell Johnson, Sr., 73 of Wellborn, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024 at his home in Wellborn.  Mr. Johnson was born in Miami, Florida and was a longtime resident of Wellborn.  He attended South West Senior High School in Miami, served our country in the United States Army and was attending Christ Central in Lake City.  Mr. Johnson was an accomplished artist and currently had some of his art on display at the Georgia Nick Gallery in St. Augustine.  He worked as an upholster for many years and enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was younger.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Sapp Johnson.

Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Johnson (Leah George), Wellborn; two sons, Mitchell Johnson, Jr. and David Garcia; father, George Johnson, Sr., Ludowici, GA; companion, Karen Mackley, St. Augustine; two brothers, Curtis Johnson, Jr., Wellborn and Mark Johnson (Frankie), Horseshoe Beach; two sisters, Rosanna Lewis and Colleen Womacks (Paul) of Glennville, GA; two paternal uncles, James Sapp (Barbara), Lake City and Gordon Sapp (Cathy), Sarasota; and his paternal Aunt, Annie Laurie McAllister.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Johns officiating.  Interment will follow at a later date at Wellborn Cemetery.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
