December 14, 1945 – June 5, 2017
Albert Hood Hendricks, 71 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey and had made Lake City his home since 1978 having moved here from Stuart, Florida where he had lived for many years. Mr. Hendricks worked for Florida Power and Light for 37 ½ years and retired in 2005. Mr. Hendricks was a member of the Orchard Community Church and enjoyed working his cows, fishing at the river and singing in the choir at church. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Peter Hendricks; his son, Albert Hood Hendricks, Jr. in 2011 and his brother Tommy Hendricks in 2002.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ginny Hendricks, Lake City; his mother, Florence Hendricks, Stuart, FL; his daughter, Wendy Smithy, Lake City; his brother, Charlie "Beau" Hendricks, Jupiter, FL; two sisters, Arlee Roman, Tequesta, FL and Tami Molina (Moises), Stuart, FL; four grandchildren, McKayla Hendricks, Brownsburg, IN, Zachary Smithy and Katie Smithy both of Lake City and Allie Hendricks, St. Augustine, FL; his former daughter in law, Shannon Hendricks, Brownsburg, IN; caregivers, Frank and Gail Burress and Joann Wolfe all of Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Eddie Blalock officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3:00 PM on Thursday. The family would like to give a special thanks to Haven Hospice for their loving care and ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32056 or to Columbia County Senior Services, memo, "The Club" at PO Box 1772, Lake City, FL 32056.
