September 4, 1960 – February 7, 2022
Alan James Carver, 61 of Fort White, passed away at home on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born at home in Glenwood, Florida to the late Toy Roland Carver and Grace Barnes Carver. Mr. Carver served in the United States Army, worked for 7 years with the Volusia County Correctional Department and was currently a Sergeant with the Florida Department of Corrections with 28 years of service at the Columbia Correctional Institute in Lake City. He had made his home in Fort White since 1994 with his High School Sweetheart and wife of 41 years, Sindy L. Carver. Mr. Carver was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and he enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Benny George Carver; and one sister, Connie Karen Carver.
Survivors include his wife, Sindy L. Carver, Fort White; three sons, Johnny A. Carver, Fort White, William Howard Carver (Barbara), Ft. Lee, VA and Vernon Toy Carver (Lynda), Tampa; his daughter, Christal Lou Gerhardt (Spencer), Genoa City, WI; one brother, Roland Carver (Suzette), Detroit, MI; five grandchildren, Cheyenne McLeod, Reyna McLeod, Alan Carver, Rosemary Carver and Kaladin Gerhardt; and one great-granddaughter, Astrid Boyer.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
