William Jennings “Jen” Hartman, Sr., 82 of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City, Florida. He was born in Lincolnton, NC to the late William Walden Hartman and Mattie Bost Hartman. Mr. Hartman was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked for 11 years as a Correctional Officer with the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He had made his home in Lake City for the past 10 years moving here from Columbia, SC. Mr. Hartman was a member and also served as a Deacon at Ramona Park Church in Lake City, Florida. Having a heart for people and zest for life, Mr. Hartman never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, doing crossword puzzles, woodworking, small engine repair and piddling in his shop. Mr. Hartman was a diehard Clemson Tiger fan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Thursall Lineberry and one brother, Johnnie R. Hartman.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patricia S. Hartman, Lake City, FL; his children, Debbie Campbell (Paul), Lake City, FL, William “Billy” Jennings Hartman, Jr. (Terrie), Columbia, SC, Tawnee Hartman, Lexington, SC, Heather Capps (James), Elgin, SC and Yvonne Szelak (Mike), Macclenny, FL; one brother, Bennie Leonard Hartman, Butner, NC.
Thirteen grandchildren, Josh Campbell (Priscilla), Lake City, FL, Mandy Brady (Michael), Lexington, SC, William “Trey” Hartman, III, Columbia, SC, Amber Nicole Brown (Josh), Columbia, SC, Hunter Ryan Hartman, Columbia, SC, Erica Seamans (Dave), Charleston, SC, Brandon McCaslin, Lexington, SC, Clay Pope, Aberdeen, NC, Heath Hunter, Lancaster, SC, Katie Andreani (Kevin), Cheasapeake, VA, Sarah Gelling (Tyler), Macclenny, FL and Lydia and Sophia Szelak both of Macclenny, FL; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Morgan and Allie Brady all of Lexington, SC, Bailey, Natalie and Jake Campbell all of Lake City, FL and Emerson Andreani, Chesapeake, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Ramona Park Church in Lake City, FL. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday from 10-11:00 AM. Flowers will be accepted and should be delivered to the funeral home.
