William Edward "Skip" Mursell, Jr.

William Edward “Skip” Mursell, Jr., 70, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 25, 2018 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a sudden illness. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on July 2, 1947 to the late William Edward Mursell, Sr. and Marjorie Cunningham Mursell. He has made Lake City his home since 2013, moving here from the Ft. Lauderdale area. He was a US Navy veteran and a Maintenance Superintendent with Kings Point in Tamarac. He loved to travel, and especially loved spending time with family and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, boating, hunting, golfing and bowling. He was also a member of the Celebration Community Church. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; James Richard Mursell, Danny Thomas Mursell, Shirley Ann Kissinger and Gertrude Helen Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife; Joanne M. Mursell of Lake City; daughters; Bobbi Jay Walthall of Lake City and Kristy Mursell of Ft. Lauderdale;  and brother; Scott Mursell of Bradenton. Six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services for Skip will be conducted on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ralph Rodriguez and Pastor Don Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered to Haven Hospice.
