Wesley Roland Bales, 62 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City. He was born in Live Oak, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Lake City and the North Florida area. Mr. Bales graduated from Columbia High School class of 1973 and then earned his degree in Forestry at Lake City Community College. He had worked for over 20 years with Great South Timber and Lumber in Lake City and was currently serving as the General Manager. Mr. Bales was a man of God and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wellborn. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, fishing and turkey hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, Crandall Bales in December of 2017.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Bales, Lake City; his mother, Ernestine Law Bales, Lake City; his children, John Wesley Bales, San Antonio, TX, Jessica Burnett (Kenny), Wellborn, William Hope, Bennington, VT, Ben Hope, Homestead, FL and Jake Lewis, Lake City; his brother, Richard C. Bales Sr. (Becky), Wellborn; his sister, Britney M. Bales, Lake City; and five grandchildren, Shaylee Swearingen, Tristin Hope, Payton Roberts, Clayton Hope and Mason Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Suwannee County with Pastor Wally Weaver and Mr. Dwight Law officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
