Wendell Smith Obituary

Wendell A. Smith, 64, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at his home in Lake City. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Walter Alexander Smith and Thelma Robertson Smith. Mr. Smith was raised in Corpus Christi, TX and had made his home in Lake City for the past 19 years having moved here from the Orlando, FL area. He served our country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a transmission tower erector for many years as well as an over the road truck driver for many years. Mr. Smith enjoyed Bar-B-Que’s with his family and friends and loved anything with John Wayne.

Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, April Smith; his children, Jennie Smith (Michael), Sean Smith (Jessica) and Steven Pizarroz all of Lake City; and eight grandchildren, Jessica Simmons, Journey Smith, Kaily Phillips, Sean Smith, Jr., Jacob Smith, Tyler Chapin, Allana Gracie Chapin and Jasmine Martin Pizarroz.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be conducted on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Busscher officiating and followed by military honors. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 4-5:00 PM.
