Walter David Labbi

January 1, 1946 ~ September 3, 2018 (age 72)

Walter was born in Philadelphia, PA.  In 1964 his parents moved to Lake City, Florida and purchased the Flamingo Motel which became the Flamingo Apartments in 1980.  Walter graduated from Columbia High School in 1965.  In 1966 he was drafted into the US Army where he was an MP and mechanic and was stationed in Italy.  He served two years and received an honorable discharge in 1968.  After getting out of the service, he became a security guard for various company’s and held that job until he was diagnosed with cancer in early 2018.  He lived on the family property after leaving the service and lived there until his death.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 57.

He was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Labbi.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Lynda Carroll, Live Oak, FL and his step son, John Parker, Crestview, FL; and numerous friends.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with honors rendered by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 57 of Lake City.
