Mrs. Velma Beatrice “Bea” Eadie, 87 of Lake City passed away peacefully on October 19, 2018 at Haven-Suwannee Valley Care Center. Bea was preceded in death by her father, Chester Floyd Elrod; mother, Nancy “Eliza Jane” Hatcher Elrod; brother, Henry Anderson Elrod; and her best friend and husband of 57 years, Alfred “Al” Fulton Eadie, Sr. She is survived by her sister Vivian Barnhart, and her loving children, Mary Wilkes (A.L.), Gwen Bedford (Gary), Alfred Fulton Eadie, Jr. (Eva), Daryl Eadie (Connie),Richard Eadie (Karen), Anthony Eadie (Tammy), 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Bea was born in Flowery Branch, Georgia. She and Al raised their children in south Florida where Bea was a nurse’s aide at North Shore Medical Center until her retirement. Bea and Al moved to Lake City, FL in 1986. She worked in the children’s department at JC Penney’s until her second retirement. Bea loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, working in her garden, and attending church whenever the doors were open. She was a friend to many and loved by all. Her gentle ways and kindness will never be forgotten.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, 17077 25th Rd., Lake City, FL at 12:00 P.M. (noon) on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven-Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 W US HWY 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
