Robbie Markham Douberley

Mrs. Robbie Markham Douberley, 95, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Lake City on June 29, 1921 to the late Alfred Guy Markham and Lillie Agnes Shealy Markham. She was a life-long resident of Lake City and a member of the Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church. She worked with her Husband and Father-in-Law at Douberley’s Grocery for many years; she then went to work for the Lake City Advertiser and finally to the Lovely Shop in Lake City where she retired. Robbie was a Girl Scout and Brownies leader and loved to work with her needle work and sew. Robbie also was a founding member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and also loved to play set back, skippo and bridge in her spare time; she and her husband Leland were always working in their beautiful yard to keep it looking pretty. She loved her children, grandchildren and family dearly.

She is survived by her loving husband of 77 years, Leland N. Douberley of Lake City; her daughters; Fan (Joe) Hines of Palatka and Judy (Buddy) Lyons of Lake City; grandchildren; Stephanie Saxby of East Palatka and Kyle (Jennifer) Hines of Hollister along with extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Douberley will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2P.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Fredric A. Freese, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7P.M. at the Funeral Home.
