Peter Leo Blanchard spent nearly 55 great years on Earth before God called on him to spend eternity in Heaven (after he caught his last Red Sox game, of course). Pete passed away as the winning home run left the stadium on Tuesday, August 7th, surrounded by his family and friends.
He took tremendous pride in being a terrific son, brother, coach, husband, father and friend to everyone that had the honor of knowing him. We will all miss his smile, his hugs and his infectious laughter. His wife Karen and two children, Billy and Kasey, will always have indescribable love between the four of them.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Jimmy Fund in memory of Pete Blanchard to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.jimmyfund.org/gift.
There will be a celebration in remembrance of Pete’s legendary life on Saturday, August 25th, at Fort White High School at 11:00 am. Dress is sports-attire casual, please wear your favorite team! Absolutely everyone is welcome (except Yankees fans).
