Mildred Elizabeth Ward, 83 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Solaris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City. She was born in Columbia County, Florida, the daughter of the late Phillip and Pearl Douglass, and was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. Mrs. Ward worked for many years with Lake Shore Hospital and also the VA Hospital in Lake City as a CNA. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lake City. Mrs. Ward enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved her church family, playing bingo, crocheting and making people happy. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton “Crick” O. Ward, Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Clifton O. Ward, Jr. and wife Jeannette Barcia Ward, Nolan Bert Ward and wife Debbie Ward and Nelson Ward and wife Tammy Ward; grandchildren, Steven Ward, Daryl Ward (Patrick Thomas), Matt Ward and Brandan Ward; great grandchildren, Garrett Ward, Sarah Ward, Brooke Ward and Blake Ward; sister, Addie Lee Longstreet; brother, Leon Douglass; numerous extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Old Country Club Road in Lake City. Interment will follow at Ebeneezer Cemetery, Columbia County, FL. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to express the gratitude to the staff at Solaris Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Lake City for the care they provided Mrs. Ward. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
