Michael J. Nemesh

Michael J. Nemesh, age 71, passed away on November 1, 2018 after a battle with cancer, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL.  He was born on May 3, 1947, to Basil (“Joe”) and Freida (Young) Nemesh in Litchfield, IL. 

Michael is survived by his wife, Gail Nemesh; two children, Michael Nemesh, Jr., and Malina Nemesh.  Six grandchildren (Matthew, Rebecca, Joey, Kevin, Chelsea, and Rodney), 4 great-grandchildren (Sara May, Branson, Adelina, and Varro); two sisters, Anna Pearson and Michelle Nail, and one brother, Wayne Nail.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, step-father Leonard Nail, step-mother Hazel Nemesh; Sara, his beloved, sweet wife of 43 years and the mother of his dear children, with whom he is now reunited; and brothers Robert Nemesh and Tom Nail.

A memorial service celebrating Michael’s life will be held at the Chapel at the VA Medical Center, 610 S. Marion Ave., Lake City, FL, on Friday, November 16th, at 1:00 p.m. 

A military tribute and burial service will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, date to be announced. 

Michael proudly served in the US Army from 1964 to 1985, spending 13 months in Vietnam where he was wounded in February 1968, and received the Purple Heart.  He was very active in the Military Order of the Purple Heart, serving as Commander of Chapter 772 in Lake City for several years, Department of Florida Sr. Vice Commander, and Chaplain of MOPH Chapter 776 in Lecanto.
