Mary Lillian Whiddon

Mrs. Mary Lillian “LIL” Whiddon, 89, of Lake City died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City. A native of Tifton, GA, Mrs. Whiddon had lived in Tifton and Quincy, FL before moving to Lake City in 1958. She retired as the comptroller for Intra-America Mobile Homes, was of the Baptist Faith, and loved spending time with her beloved family. She also loved decorating her house and had an open door policy for all her kids’ friends. She was the 1946 Miss Tifton High School and head majorette. She was a past member of the Lake City Junior Woman’s Club and Lake City Newcomer Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ted O. Whiddon in 2015.

Mrs. Whiddon is survived by her son, Heyward Ted Whiddon (Yuriko) “Cookie” of Fleming Island, FL; two daughters, Elaine W. Thomas (Leslie Taylor) and Representative Elizabeth Porter (Andrew) all of Lake City; grandchildren, Trevor and Shannon Thomas of Lake City, Eric Whiddon (Chelsea) and Alex Whiddon all of Fleming Island, Erin Porter Benz (Nathaniel) and Drew Porter all of Lake City; great grandchildren, Jordan Baroni, and Jai Bass both of Lake City, James Whiddon of Fleming Island, Greyson Benz and Anniston Benz of Lake City; brother, Michael Elton Willis (Theresa Ryan) of Tifton, GA.

Funeral services for Mrs. Whiddon will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-6:00 P.M. (one hour prior to the services). A reception will follow the service Thursday at the Lake City Church of the Nazarene fellowship hall at 3001 HWY 47, Lake City. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 28, 2018, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, GA. Interment will follow.
