Leland Nelson Douberley

Leland Nelson Douberley, 96, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2017 at the Solaris Health Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Lake City on September 9, 1921 to the late Wilbur W. and Bertha Williams Douberley. He has been a life-long resident of Lake City and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After attending Columbia High, he delivered kerosene during World War II, and worked for many years with his father as a grocer at Douberley’s Grocery Store. He worked as a salesman with Summers Chevrolet, The Hackney Brother’s Grocery Company and retired after 15 years of service with the Lake City Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 78 years; Robbie Markham Douberley in May of this year and his siblings; Myrtis Markham, Dorrie Rogers, Leta Martin, Hollis Douberley, Foy Mae Brownlee and Bernice Munns.

He is survived by his loving children; Judy (Buddy) Lyons of Lake City and Fan (Joe) Hines of Palatka and his grandchildren; Stephanie Hines of East Palatka and Kyle (Jennifer) Hines of Hollister. Many extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Leland will be conducted on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services).
