Joan Kahn Melnick, 90 of Lake City, Florida, and formerly a longtime resident of Miami and Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City. She was born in Mt. Vernon, New York to the late Joseph and Dorothy Sadowsky Langner. Mrs. Melnick was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, James N. Kahn, in 1971.
Survivors include her son, Rabbi Jeffrey Kahn (Stephanie), Washington, DC; her daughter, Jamie Kahn, Lake City; two grandchildren, Rabbi James Kahn (Paula), Silver Spring, MD and Joshua Kahn, Washington, DC; and two great grandchildren, Julian and Miles Kahn, both of Silver Spring, MD.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Miami with Rabbis Jeffrey and James Kahn officiating. Interment will follow.
