Janette D. Payne, 88, of Lake City, passed away at home on Monday, September 25, 2017 following an extended illness, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Speaker Township, Michigan on March 18, 1929 to the late Charles Louis Weston and Lydia Ann Land. Mrs. Payne lived for her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. There is nothing she enjoyed more in life than spending time with them. She always made the holidays magical with her decorations and baking. Her home was one where everyone would congregate and was made to feel part of the family. She also liked to play bingo, card games, and go to a casino when she could find one. Her love of yodeling was known far and wide. She was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Mrs. Payne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William Raymond Payne, nine brothers, one sister, and great grandchild Wayland Clay Touchton.
Survivors include her son; William R. Payne II, of Brooker, Fl., daughters; Brenda Chapman (Rob), of St. Augustine, Fl., Linda Conner, Betsy Touchton (Bruce) both of Lake City, Fl., Brandi Cervera (Jorge) of Cheyenne, Wy., brother; Max Weston (Margaret) of Michigan, grandchildren; Mandi Jackson (Sam), Robbie Chapman (Michelle), Christi Mowrey (Dustin), Ryan Touchton (Pam), Joshua Payne (Sarena), Jeremy Payne, Sara Hernandez (Santos), great grandchildren; Abby and Robert Chapman, Reagan and Shelby Touchton, Dominick and Davonte Payne, Tyson Mowrey, Everleigh, Brock, and Cole Jackson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family and friends will be held one hour (2:00-3:00pm) prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
