Mrs. Janet Summers Rivers, 58, of Lake City died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Lake City Janet was the daughter of the late W.L. and Edna Coleman Summers and had been a resident of Lake City for most of her life. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1977 and was Ms. CHS from 1975-1976. After graduation, she graduated from the Bert Rogers Real Estate School. She enjoyed painting pictures with oil paint and charcoal, spending time on the Ichetucknee River, and spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her husband and best friend James H. “Jimbo” Rivers; sons, J.R. Rivers (Jessica) and Sebastian “Seebay” Rivers; daughter, Sabrina Rivers; sisters, Cindi Loudermilk, and Debbie Owens (Glenn); granddaughters, Destiny, Brooke, and Sam Rivers,; grandsons, James and Luke Lynch; nephews, William “Bip” Summers, Blake Summers, and Josh Owens; niece, Ashley Gamble.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Haven Suwannee Valley Care Center for their utmost professional care and love for Janet.
