Mr. Jack D. Hagans, 80, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 27, 2018 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville after an extended illness. He was born in Hosford, FL on June 26, 1938 to the late J.W. Hagans and Armada Hunter Williams. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sargent. He was a 1959 graduate of Columbia High School and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles in his spare time. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church here in Lake City. He is preceded in death by his parents, Captain and Mrs. J.W. Hagans and Armada Williams; and sister, Oveda Kate Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Grace Hagans of Lake City; sons; Jeff Hagans (Eldean) of Palm Bay and Kenneth Hagans of Lake City; brothers; Joe W. Hagans (Dot) of Tallahassee, Larry W. Williams (Robin) of Lake City; Jerry Williams of Lake City, and Sherod Hagans of New Smyrna Beach; sister; Alice Sander of Monticello; grandchildren; Scott, Deanna (Austin) and Rebekah.
Funeral services for Mr. Hagans will be conducted on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Cason officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Mr. Hagans’ honor.
