Glenn Brannen

July 1, 1947 ~ December 10, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Glenn Brannen, 70 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City with his family by his side. He was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Cecil Wilson Brannen and Edith Margaret Thornton Brannen.  Mr. Brannen was raised in Lake Butler and was a graduate of Union County High School class of 1965 where he lettered in Track and Football.  He made his home in Lake City for the past 39 years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lake City.  Mr. Brannen worked for 27 years with Florida Gas, Florida Hydrocarbons, later becoming Enron, and also with the Florida Department of Corrections at Columbia Correctional Institution retiring with 12 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, making walking canes, raising animals and spending time with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his loving Dachshund, “Roxy”.

 

Survivors include his wife, Delores Box Brannen, Lake City; two daughters, Jackie Rossiter (Steve), Ocala and Christie Graham (Chris), Lulu; four grandchildren, Kailee Markham (Kyle), Lake Butler, Konnor Rossiter, Ocala, Natalie Graham and Maysen Graham both of Lulu; uncle, Dewey Thornton (Norma), Lake Butler; aunts, Melverna “Bunny” Addison, Gainesville and June Thornton, Starke; brother-in law, A.C. Box (Johnnie Belle), Lake Butler, sisters-in-laws, Emogene Box and Josephine Addison both of Lake Butler, Alief Bryant (Randall), Glen St. Mary and Durelle Bailey (Emory), Lake City; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Fritz Fountain, Rev. Herman Hampton and Rev. Larry Sweat officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center or Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, Lake City, FL.  Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S US Hwy 441, Lake City, FL 32025.  386-752-1954  Please leave words of comfort for the family at www.gatewayforestlawn.com
