Gladys Edouard Obituary

Gladys “Maryse” Edouard, 65, of Jacksonville, FL peacefully departed this life Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 12:45 pm at Orange Park Medical Center.
Gladys was born to Appolon Edouard and Claire Torchon, October 8, 1953 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She completed High School and started her own business as a seamstress and hairdresser. She married Joseph Cadet and they lived together in Port-au-Prince.  This union was blessed with their son Natkincolt. Later in 1987,  she was blessed with her daughter Manouchka. Joseph Cadet preceded her in death in October 1996.

After laying to rest both her parents, she cared and provided for her two younger siblings Jean and Wesner. Gladys migrated to the United States in January 1988 to attain a better life for herself and her family. In Miami, FL she completed some college work and worked as a nurse. Prior to taking ill, in 2010 she devoted her life to Christ and became a Seventh-day Adventist.

She leaves as her legacy two children: Natkincolt Cadet and Manouchka Innocent; daughter-in-law Marie and son-in-law Oscar. She also leaves to cherish her memory two siblings, Jean Edouard and Wesner Edouard; sisters-in-law Ofeli and Irma; two grandchildren Natslye and Narllye and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family remember her as a loving, courageous, calm, friendly and industrious woman. She was loved by many.

The greatest gifts she shared with her children is the importance of fasting, praying and the precious promises in God’s word. Gladys favorite Bible passages are Psalms 23, 46 and 91. She would often recall them during her latter years while in the nursing home. She had a smile that lit up a room. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by Joseph Cadet (husband), Appolon Edouard, (father), and Claire Torchon, (mother).

A Memorial Service and Interment is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2019, 12:00 Noon at Gateway-Forest Lawn Home & Crematory, 3596 US 441, Lake City, FL 32025. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
