Mr. Franklin Theodore “Theo” St. John, age 86 of Lake City, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. Theo was born to Audley St. John, Sr. and Nella Mae Beasley St. John on April 20, 1933 in Olustee, Florida. He was raised in Olustee with 7 siblings, he graduated from Sanderson High School in 1950. Theo then served two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the army he began a career with the Army Corps of Engineers working throughout the state of Florida, then settling in Clewiston, Florida for the later part of his career. At the end of a 30 year career he retired in 1982 and returned to the area to live in Lake City, Florida. He was then employed by North Florida Concrete before retiring a second time. After accepting Christ as his Savior at age 25 he joined the Church of God. He was an active member throughout his life, and worked in different capacities within the church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Hilliard St. John. He is also survived by his children, daughters Angela (Robert) Blount, Clewiston, FL, Sandra St. John, and Kimberly (Scott) Bass, and one son Joel St. John all of Lake City, FL. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Berniece McPherson, Orlando, FL.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. St. John will be conducted on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vep Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Olustee Cemetery, Olustee, Florida. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gateway Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
