Eva Geraldine Snipes

Eva Geraldine Snipes, 85, of Lake City, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019, at the Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.  She was born and raised in Lake City to the late J.B. Smith and Marie Williams Smith.  Mrs. Snipes was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1953 and worked many years with Bellsouth and AT&T, retiring in 1985 with 30 years of employment.  She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in mission trips with the church.  Mrs. Snipes was a member of Lake City Garden Club and she enjoyed traveling domestic and abroad. She also loved to host tea parties for her granddaughters and the young girls at church.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Crockett Smith and two sisters, Jackie Geiger and Mable Catherine Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Charles S. Snipes, Lake City; six children, John Inman Cox (Jennifer), Greenville, FL, Stanley Cox (Angela), Lake City, Karin Cox, Wellborn,  Vicki Bannister (Corey), Lake City, Chuck Snipes, Davis, CA and Pam Snipes, Davis, CA; one brother, David Smith (Janette), Viola, TN; four sisters, Virgenia Smith, West Palm Beach, Maralyn Foote (Perry), Gainesville, Vivian Douberley, Lake City and Candy Kaswinkel, Lake City; one sister-in-law, Annie Merle Smith, Smyrna, TN; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Tatem and Rev. Fred Edwards, officiating.  Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Monday evening, October 14, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Baptist Church Building Fund at 268 NW Lake Jeffery Rd, Lake City, FL 32055.
