Eric Greenwald Obituary

Eric Greenwald was born on March 28, 1962 in Nashville, TN.  On August 29, 2018, he suffered a motor vehicle accident, and after a life of struggles, surprises, twists, turns, triumphs and ultimate victory, he went to be with his Lord, savior and friend, Jesus.

Upon graduating Tullahoma High School in 1980, he answered a patriotic call, and served his country in the Navy. He sailed aboard the USS Dale from 1980 to 1984, where he cared for his fellow crewmen as a mess specialist. Later, he served the civilian world as a cook for Wagon’s West in Miami.  Sometime after arriving in North Central Florida, he put his tinkering skills to good use as a mechanic for Leonard’s frame shop in Lake City. Most recently, he served his community as a pool technician with Ken’s Pool Service.

Eric possessed a burning passion for Jesus that drove him to share about his Lord, so that others can know the love and power of Jesus in the same way that he now does. He served in youth ministry, men’s ministry, Promise Keepers, and Tres Dias of Birmingham, Alabama (BTD #36).  He was a blessing to his Christian brothers and sisters at Fellowship Church in High Springs.

Family brought him some of his greatest joys, and he loved spending time with his wife, Shelley, a woman he considered to be God’s gift to him.  He also treasured time with his boys, and loved sharing with them his enjoyment of cool cars, hunting, shooting guns, and fishing. He couldn’t miss a weekly trip to Dairy Queen to savor some ice cream with his granddaughter, Addy. A history of Eric’s joys isn’t complete without mentioning his love of both the Tennessee Vols and the Tennessee Titans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Eva Greenwald, and his sister, Pamela Greenwald.

He is survived by his wife, Michel (Shelley), his sons, Luke Adam of North Miami Beach, Eric Robert (and Tricia) of Lake City, Logan Lee of Lake City, Dale Duke of Lake City, Kyle Chaz of Lake City, along with his grandchildren, Zachary Spaulding, Addylynn Grace Greenwald, and Aiden Michael Greenwald.  He is also survived by his Tennessee family of Uncle Harold and Aunt Jennie Bush of Tullahoma, his cousins, Thomas and Penny Bush of Tullahoma, and his lifelong best friends, Mike Brackman and William ‘Cubby’ Jones. He will be missed by several youth who considered him a role model and close friend. His faithful hunting dog, Honey Gun Greenwald mourns his absence.

A celebration of life, officiated by Pastor Skipper Hair, will be held Thursday, September 6th at 5:00pm at Fellowship Church of High Springs.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fellowship Church’s Youth Group.
