Elizabeth "Liz" Bartholow

Elizabeth Kathleen “Liz” Bartholow, 64, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2019 at Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. She was born on December 23, 1954 in Coshcton, Ohio to the late Calvin and Pearl Lafferty. She has made Lake City her home since 1996, moving here from the Ohio area. She was a homemaker all of her life who loved taking care of her children, watching game shows and playing along with them. She also loved her dogs Susie Q and Rosie dearly. She is preceded in death by her brothers, David, Bill and Lawrence Lafferty.

She is survived by her loving children, Alvin Smart (Danielle), Scotty Smart and Cindy Colston all of Lake City and Becky Hiple of Alachua; brother, Calvin Lafferty of Guersney, Ohio and sister, Hala Hafner (John) of Lake City. Five grandchildren along with extended family, friends, and separated husband, John Bartholow also survive.

Funeral services for Liz will be conducted on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Bass officiating. Entombment will follow in Hafner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening, February 5, 2019 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3596 S. US HWY 441, Lake City, FL, 32025.
