Eileen Joyce (Smith) Sloan

Eileen Joyce Smith Sloan, 93 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Solaris HealthCare in Lake City, Florida.  She was born in Sydney, Australia to the late George and Evelyn Smith.  Ms Sloan came to the United States and married Lt. Roy Sloan, United States Navy Retired, and he preceded her in death in 2005 after 57 years.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake City where her and her late husband Roy taught Sunday School for many years.  Ms Sloan was also a member of the Lake City Garden Club.  She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.    

Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Sloan Manthey (Wesley), Lake City; three grandchildren, Julie Gooch (John), Ashburn, VA, Jennifer Rylander, Jacksonville and Gregory Manthey, Jacksonville; one sister, Margaret Smith, Lake City. 

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2-4:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church of Lake City at 973 S Marion St.  A private interment beside her late husband Roy, will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lake City at, 973 S Marion St., Lake City, FL 32025.
