Mr. Edward Dorsey “Jabber” Bowling, 71, of Fort White, formerly of the Homestead, Florida and Dade County area, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2018 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville with his family by his side. He was born in Knoxville, TN on December 3, 1946 to the late Robert and Edith Bowling. He has made Fort White his home since 2014, moving here from the Homestead area. He was a self-employed diesel mechanic and welder by trade, and served in the Army National Guard. When he was younger, he enjoyed racing mini stock cars, and as he got older, enjoyed hunting anything that creeped, crawled or moved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; Brenda Bowling of Fort White; son; Edward Bowling, Jr. of Homestead and daughter; Kristi Bowling of Homestead. Five grandsons; Robert Bowling, Ronald Bowling, Joseph Cepeda, Nicholas Cepeda and Matthew Bowling; three great-grandchildren; Trinity Bowling, Brantley Bowling and Matthew Cepeda also survives.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Bowling will be conducted on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 P.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home.
