Dulce Marie Garrison, 95, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Friday evening, December 27, 2019 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba on Christmas day, December 25, 1924 to the late José Martinez and Adelea Gonzalez Martinez. She has lived in the Lake City area since 1995, moving here from Key Largo and was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked for over 20 years with the Sears & Roebuck Company as a sales associate. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study group and sang in the church choir for many years in Key Largo and Miami. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing lots of traveling with her husband watching football, especially the Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida Gators.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Dick Garrison of Lake City; son, Richard L. Garrison, Jr. (Lucy) of Dade City; daughters, Rose G. Pavey (Carl) of Lake City and Rita M. Altman (Al) of Green Cove Springs; brother, José A. Martinez of Cuba; sister, Nery Martinez of Cuba. Grandchildren, Helen Blalock (David) of Buford, GA, Cristina Johnson (David) of Tampa; great-grandchildren, Mason and Madison Johnson of Tampa also survive.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Garrison will be conducted at a later date.
