David Alan Butler, 59 of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Middleburg. He was born in Glendale, California and had made Keystone Heights his home since 2013 having lived domestic and abroad during his military service. Mr. Butler graduated in 1978 from High Ridge High School in High Ridge, MO where he lettered in Wrestling and Football. He then pursued a 23 year career with the United States Army serving in the Army 7th Special Forces Green Berets. Following his retirement in 2004, Mr. Butler worked as the Operations Manager for Human Terrain Systems. He enjoyed collecting guns, knives and military memorabilia, attending gun shows and fishing. Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his father, Lester Butler, and one sister-in-law, Tscharna Hampton.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie J. Butler, Keystone Heights, FL; his mother, Janice Norris (Carl), MO; three children, Taylor Butler (Riley Tiller), Fort Lewis, WA, Natasha Given, (Geoff), Idaho Falls, ID and Sean Glover, Sarasota, FL; one sister, Wendy Anton, St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Paityn Richter, Landyn Given, Grayson Given and Ashton Glover; his father and mother in law, Robert and Sandra Hansford, Astor, FL; his sister and brother in law, Tina and Jim McCann, Orange Park, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
