Billye Jean Thrasher Myrick

Billye Jean Thrasher Myrick, 85, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Friday evening, January 12, 2018 at Surrey Place Care Center in Live Oak. She was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 4, 1932 to the late Jack Thrasher and Jewel Mask Whorton. She was married for sixty-six years to the late John Myrick and they both graduated from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Texas. She has made Lake City her home for the past 45 years, moving here from Aurora, North Carolina. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very talented, creative and crafty with the ability to see something and go home to create her own. A perfectionist and wonderful seamstress she created her daughters and granddaughters many beautiful outfits. She owned several businesses that highlighted her passions – The Candle Shop (in Aurora), The Lemon Tree, and The Merry-Go-Round, as well as teaching classes at the Doll Cottage where she created porcelain dolls. She was a member of the Lake City Garden Club, a Red Hat Group, Bridge Club and a member of the Girl Scouts for over 30 years. She was very active in the community being a volunteer driver for Happy House, catering weddings and parties, directing social events at the Lake City Country Club where she also played golf and tennis. During her life she was able to travel the world with John on his many business trips. Billye is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and step-parents Ralph Whorton and Bertha Thrasher.
She is survived by her children - Carole M. Strickland, Thomas S. Myrick (JoAnn), Edwin R. Myrick (Taren) and Jody D. Myrick; Grandchildren: Don Lee (Whitney), April Murphy (Billy), D. Cody Myrick (Maryn), Austin Myrick (Anna), Sabrina Myrick, Lindsey Phelan, Sean Strickland, Kassie Myrick, Dillion Myrick and Cody J. Myrick (Sandra). Great-grandchildren: Heather Lee, Tyler Myrick-Murphy, Mackenzie Phelan, Kiarah Myrick-Smalls, Rorie Lee, Emily Murphy, Charlie Phelan, Ansley Myrick and Carter Myrick, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many wonderful friends.
Memorial services for Mrs. Myrick will be conducted at the Orchard Community Church - Southridge Campus on February 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
