Billy Joe Causey, 78 of Lake City, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. He was born in 1938 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to the late Willard and Grace Miller Causey. Mr. Causey joined the United States Airforce in 1956 and became part of the Strategic Air Command at Homestead Air Force Base near Miami. Following the Air Force, he attended Miami-Dade Community College where he received an Associate Degree in business. He also worked for Pan American Airways, American Machine and Foundry, and owned a tire store in Perrine, FL. In 1982 he opened an Allstate Insurance Agency in Lantana, Florida. Then in 2002 he sold his agency and retired. Bill was a member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge #27. He loved to fish, travel, garden and spend time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Linda “Lynn” Causey, Lake City; his children, Kelly Johnson (David), Lake City, Brian Kustad (Susie), Lake Worth, Vince Causey and Lynette Belforti; his uncle, Gib Miller (MaryAnn), Deland; nine grandchildren; longtime close friends, Wayne and Judy Anderson, Lake City, along with a host of other friends.
Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Wellborn Baptist Church in Wellborn with Pastor Rusty Bryan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055 or to the Lake City Masonic Lodge #27 at PO Box 223, Lake City, FL 32056.
