Ben Henry Poitevint, Sr., 92 of Branford, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia the oldest of six children to the late Outler Henry Poitevint and Ruby Corrine Yawn Poitevint. Mr. Poitevint had lived in Branford since 1975 and had previously been a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He worked for 35 years with Central Truck Lines as a truck driver. Mr. Poitevint was very family oriented and was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Poitevint and three siblings, Dallas, Grace Lee and Monte.
Survivors include his children, Judy Marie Mobley (John), Callahan, Gail Yvonne Poitevint, Jacksonville, Ben Henry Poitevint, Jr., (Judy), Old Town and Benjamin Michael Poitevint, Branford; one brother, Ed Poitevint (Marion), Branford; one sister, Betty Boston, Lake City; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
