Roy Harold Mann, Jr

Roy Harold Mann, Jr 84, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL of heart failure. He is the son of Roy Harold and Edna Sparkman Mann. Mr. Harold was a graduate of Troy State and the University of Georgia.  Early in his career, he was a teacher and coach. He coached basketball at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach and at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach. He was assistant principal at Satellite Beach High School when he left the education field and spent his time developing a chain of 36 convenience stores throughout central Florida. He was a member of the Retail Grocers Association of Florida and served as Chairman of the Board in 1990. Mr. Harold made his home in Lake City for the past thirty years where he was the Director of Operations for S and S Food Stores. He was a member of Christ Central Ministries where he served as the President of Men’s Ministry for many years. He made several trips to Jerusalem with the church and went with the church to Honduras to help build an orphanage. He was a member of the FSU Boosters Club and enjoyed traveling with the Seminole football team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants, shooting skeet, and going to baseball games to watch his grandchildren play.

Mr. Harold is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Ferne Mann, Lake City, FL, and two sons Robert Mann (Michelle) Lake City, FL, and Jason Mann (Danielle) Windermere, FL. two sisters Cheryle Kirkland (Allen) and Gail Cox both of Wildwood, FL. five grandchildren Branson and Madden Mann, Kaitlyn Mann, and Kylee and Austin Tatninov.

 Services are at Christ Central Ministries, 217 SW Dyal Avenue on Thursday, March 21. Viewing is at 1:00 with a Celebration of Life service at 2:00.
