Ophalee Vanover Obituary

Ophalee Gilreath Vanover, age 87, passed away on March 7, 2024. She was born on April 14, 1936 in Duck Run, Kentucky to the late George Kelly Bryant and Maggie Loretta Hicks of Whitley City, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her son, Mike Gilreath and 11 brothers and sisters. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Estel Gilreath of Pineknot, Kentucky.

 

Ophalee is survived by her husband, Leonard Vanover; her children, Chris Wilson (Tom Davis) of Lake City, Evelyn Richter (Glenn) of Lake City, Ron Gilreath (Debbie) of Bunnell, and Bill Gilreath (Gail) of Lake City. Ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive.

 

Ophalee was a member of the New Beginning Church in Lake City. She was loved by many nieces and nephews. Many people she loved as her own children. Ophalee never met anyone that she felt wouldn’t be a friend. Her motto was “to be a good friend, you have to be a good friend to them first.” She was a very nice lady.

 

A funeral service for Mrs. Mrs. Vanover will be conducted on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor John and Karen Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
