Lisa Seay Obituary

Lisa Renee Lightsey Seay was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She was born on August 22nd, 1957 to Cherokee Lenette (nee Owens) Lampp and David Lee Lightsey. She has one sister Laura; three brothers Scott, Teddy, and Wade; and three step brothers Glenn, Wayne, and Jimmy. She attended Chamberlain High School and graduated in 1975. She also attended FSU and studied Drama and Theatre there. Her work life began at ACE Hardware where she worked proudly, moved on to work as a dispatcher at Leon County, and finally finished with 30 years at the Florida Lottery, retiring in 2019. During her time at FSU, she met Mike Seay and they married in 1985. Four years later, their son John was born. Annalise came along in 1996.

In 1999, they moved to the family home on Rich Bay Road in Havana, Florida. Lisa had many passions and a sincere love of life. She especially loved her precious pets, including her dog Iris and her cats Jinx and Gams, along with a lifelong love of her boxer dogs and her beloved horses. She was passionate about nature and loved to spend every minute out in it by hiking, touring, and traveling the world. Among these passions was a true love of giving and a generous personality that outshines most. Among one of Lisa’s most notable qualities was her incredible strength of faith. Her love of God was obvious to all who met her and she made many beautiful connections with others in her ministry at the Tallahassee Biker Church, Crossbridge Christian Church, and Capital City Christian Church. Secondary only to her faith is her love of family. She deeply adored every single member of her very large family and enjoyed many years of gatherings for Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. An adept kazoo player, she enchanted many an audience over the years with fireworks blazing overhead. Her dance moves on the beach will not soon be forgotten. Lisa lived a life of passion and adventure. She constantly saw the beauty in all of God’s creation and delighted in sharing her joy with her loved ones. Her admiration for creation also transferred to a protectiveness in it, and she was dedicated to a number of ecological projects, greatly supported community cleanup, and encouraged use of all things natural. Conversely, a perfect day for Lisa included an afternoon with a couple of cold beers and an FSU football, baseball, or basketball game on. She spent years in a female motorcycle group called the Chrome Divas and adventured on her motorcycle (over 2,000 miles on one trip!), spent her childhood roaming around on her horse bareback, and easily proved anyone who doubted her ability wrong.

Lisa was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was entirely unique. Headstrong, creative, vibrant, eccentric and exuberant, she will be greatly missed by all that are survived by her: Annalise, John and Kayla, her mother Cherokee, Laura and Mike, Scott and Debbie, Wade and Barb, Glenn and Patti, Wayne and Yvette, Jimbo and Veronica, Mike and Elizabeth, and a vast number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father David, and her brother Teddy.
