Dale Philman

Mr. Dale Philman, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville surrounded by his family. Mr. Philman was born in Bell, Florida to the late Sydney and Rella Lu Reeta Thomas Philman.  He was a graduate of Bell High School class of 1956.  Following high school, Mr. Philman married his late wife of 60 years, Minnie L. Bass Philman, and they made Lake City their home since 1956.  He started his career in the Insurance Business in Lake City with Wilson National Life, later becoming American General and AIG, and retired with 48 years and 9 months of service.  Mr. Philman was of the Advent Christian Faith.  He loved tinkering in his shop, fishing and going to Biloxi.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Minnie L. Bass Philman, in 2016; and all of his siblings.

Survivors include his children, Melanie Taylor (David), Randy Philman, Mike Philman (Carla) and Melinda Howell (Joseph); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Daddy was a man of strong faith and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He loved his family and was sure to contact each of his children at least daily.  We as a family were blessed to witness the greatest of love stories unfold each day watching him and our mother grow closer, cherish each other and become inseparable.  They were truly two halves that together made a whole.  His life was never the same after her passing.  We are thankful that they have been reunited and perfected in Heaven.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Interment will follow.
