William Robert Strickland

Mr. William Robert Strickland, 65, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. He was born in Lake City, FL on June 29, 1952 to Doris McDonald Strickland and the late William Levy Strickland, Jr..  Mr. Strickland had lived most of his life in Lake City having lived 10 years in the Panhandle of Florida.  He worked for the Florida Department of Corrections and also as a dispatcher for the Lake City Police Department.  Mr. Strickland was an avid Florida Gator fan who bled orange and blue. 

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen Strickland, Lake City; his mother, Doris Strickland, Orange Park; son, Bobby Dale Strickland (Barbara), Lake City; daughter, Carolyn D. McManus, Lake City; brother, Harold Strickland (Marlene), Middleburg; sister, Michelle Strickland Gibson (Troy), Orange Park; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Norman, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
