Lake City Reporter Obituary Notice

Mr. William Wesley "Wes" Hancock, 91 of Lake City, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 16, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a son to the late William Russell Hancock and Kate Stalvey Hancock. Mr. Hancock was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for several years in Lake City for Pespi Cola and was the owner and operator of the "Corner Kitchen" in Lake City from 1971-1997 with his late wife. Mr. Hancock was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lake City and enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Hancock; one son, Roland Hancock; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Hancock, J.D. Hancock and George Hancock; and one sister, Emma Thompson.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Blakley (Harold), Lake City; two brothers, Russell Hancock (Carolyn), Live Oak and Ronnie Hancock (Linda), Hialeah; two sisters, Lawana Wiggins, Crawfordville and Edith Kent, Live Oak; one brother-in-law, Rodney Sistrunk (Betty), Old Town; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Hancock, Stella Hancock and Shari Bundy (Bobby) all of Lake City; four grandchildren, Michael Blakley (Millissa), Shawn Blakley, Justin Blakley (Lacie) and Heather Griffis (Chris); and five great grandchildren, Wesley, Dalton and Lawsyn Blakley and Carissa and Christopher Griffis.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Ivan Clements officiating. Interment will follow.
