Mr. Stafford Lester Scaff, Jr., 79, of Lake City passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at his residence. A native of Jennings, Florida, Lester was the son of the late Stafford Lester Scaff, Sr. and Elsie Louise King Scaff, and moved to Lake City in 1959. He and his wife Anne, who preceded him in death in 2014, founded and owned 45 S & S Food stores in 7 counties for 54 years and have consistently been in Florida Trend Top 200 private companies since 1999. Lester was a very generous man who took care of his employees and gave to several charitable organizations. He loved to shoot sporting clays, bird hunting, golfing, and traveling, and was preceded in death by his brother Richard Scaff in 2012.
Mr. Scaff is survived by his brother, Gary Scaff (Teresa) of Hosford, FL; sister, Marie Goolsby (David, Sr.) of Jasper, FL; many nieces and nephews and close friends also survive.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Epiphany Catholic Church with The Most Rev. Felipe J. Estevez, Father Rob Trujillo, and Father Sebastian George, and Father William Kelly Celebrants. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epiphany Catholic Church, 1905 SW Epiphany Ct., Lake City, FL 32025 or New Hope Baptist Church, 6592 NW 48th St., Jennings, FL 32053. .
