Mrs. Ruby Wade Sides, 88 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was born in Trenton, Florida to the late Hector McNeil Wade and Gladys Charlotte Barnett Wade. Mrs. Sides was a graduate of Baldwin High School in Baldwin, Florida, class of 1945. She loved to play basketball and played for both Baldwin High School and the City of Jacksonville Women's League. Mrs. Sides was an avid Florida Gator Fan and she enjoyed watching all of the Gator sports, college football, especially SEC football. She was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and had lived in Lake City for the past seven years. Mrs. Sides was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake City and she enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and fishing when she was able. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Sides and four siblings.
Survivors include her children, George and Holley Sides, Birmingham, AL, Donna and Jerry Keenan, Marietta, GA and Cindy and Edward Poucher, Ringgold, GA; one brother, David Wade (Kitty), Jacksonville; two sisters, Gladys Milligan, Lake City and Jean Morris, Orlando; seven grandchildren, Adam Keenan (Shannon), Taylor Parker (Sean), Zach Poucher (Whitney), Christian Brogdon (Steven), Thomas Poucher (Danielle), Grant Sides and Ryland Sides; and six great grandchildren, Devyn and Skylar Keenan, McKenna and Emerson Parker, Rett Poucher and Taylor Brogdon.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Interment will follow. A memorial service will also be conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Lake City with Pastor Jeff Tate officiating.
