Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael T. McFadd

September 14, 1950 ~ September 6, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Michael T. McFadd died on September 6, 2017 after a year and a half long battle with cancer.  He was being cared for by the wonderful staff at the Lake City VA Hospice Unit, to whom his family would like to extend immense gratitude. At his request, his ashes were laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, joining his parents Raymond and Edna (Davidson) McFadd.  Mike was born September 14, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Howard Beach, NY until joining the United States Air Force in 1968. Mike served in the USAF for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He is survived by sister, Carol-Ann (McFadd) Kozak of Hollidaysburg, PA, his children, Daniel James McFadd of Camden, DE and Kathleen Anne McFadd of Troy, NY, and two grandchildren – Sadie Eileen McFadd of Gansevoort, NY and Chayton Daniel McFadd of Troy, NY.  He was an avid golfer (playing just three weeks before his passing), bowler, and softball player. His greatest joy was umpiring softball for 26 years, a passion that grew from a dare. Though his goal was to officiate 10,000 games, he finished his umpiring career with 9,336 games.  He enjoyed living and playing in The Villages of Florida for the last 14 years, though unlike many snowbirds flying south for the winter, he would spend his Christmas’ in upstate NY with his daughter and grandchildren.  His daughter, Kathleen was with him and by his side for the remaining days of his life and was joined by his sister, Carol, and son, Danny. It is his family’s hope that Mike has found peace and comfort in eternal life.
