Maxine Carrie (Brake) Lackey

Mrs. Maxine Brake Lackey, 103, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday morning, November 16, 2015 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice).  Maxine was born in Dutton, Michigan to the late Menno and Carrie [Rooker] Brake. Mrs. Lackey had lived in New Port Ritchey, Palatka, Ocala, and Lake City where she served for many years as church pianist. She was a member of Parkview Baptist church for 58 years and is thought to have been its oldest member. After the death of her husband Mrs. Lackey went to work for the Department of Public Welfare and stayed with them till her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Menno Brake; sister, Fern Brake Marrs; her beloved husband of 24 years, 1st Sergeant John W. Lackey, Florida Highway Patrol  (1961) and their son, David Lackey.

Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis (Mason) Farnell of Lake City, FL; daughter in law, Gail Lackey of Hurst,TX; grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda) Farnell, Jeremy Farnell, & Rebecca (Don) MacLaren all of Lake City, FL, Karen Lackey (Chris) Trail of Lewisville, TX and Karla Lackey (Jeff) Grigsby of Keller, TX; great grandchildren, Mason & Marshall Farnell, Terah & Brock Trail, Emily Grigsby and Joseph Stephens.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Memorial Cemetery (on Lake Jeffery Road) with Pastor Mike Tatem officiating.
