Mom,

I still can't believe you are gone! It still doesn't seem real. At your memorial service today, I closed my eyes during prayer and pretended you were standing next to me, just like every other time, but when I opened my eyes, you were not there. But I know you really were there with me, it was just in a different way, a way that I will have to learn to accept.

I hope you felt my support over the past few months and that it helped you get through a very difficult time. Dad, David and I made a tough decision that wasn't going to give us what we wanted but all we really wanted for you was for you to feel better! I know you are now at peace and I will have to try to find peace in knowing that.

I see butterflies at your house now. They fly all around me when I'm walking up to your house. I hope these butterflies are you letting me know you are still here. I hope you visit me often because I miss you more than words can say!
