Mr. Joseph L. “Joey” Roberts, 49, of Lulu passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Joey was the son of William C. and Wilma Z. “Zeke” Cason Roberts. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1987 and was a Sergeant at Baker Correctional Institution and a member of Old Providence Baptist Church. Joey was an avid Gator Football fan, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, and doing anything outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father William C. Roberts in 1982.
Joey is survived by his wife Becky Roberts of Lulu; mother, Zeluan “Zeke” Roberts of Lake City; brothers, Billy Roberts of Lake City and Wesley Roberts (Pam) of Branford; mother in law, Eunice Johnson of Lulu; brothers in law, Lamar, Benny, and Riley (Jennifer) Markham all of Lulu; his dog Magnum; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers also survive.
Funeral services for Joey will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Edenfield officiating. Interment will follow at Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday evening.
