Jess LeRoy Davidson

Mr. Jess “LeRoy” Davidson, 69, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. LeRoy was born on March 26, 1947, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Jess Davidson and Cleora [Wise] Barger. He was a long time General/Residential Contractor in Ohio, Georgia and Florida. He built the Charlotte County Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida, which opened in 1990, and served as Owner, Promoter, and Race Director until December of 2006. He was the current owner of Sweetwater Fishing Supplies, Port Charlotte, Florida. LeRoy and Connie retired and moved to Fort White, Florida in 2015. He was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleora & Jess, his step father, Kenny Barger, brothers, Eugene & Kenny Davidson, sisters, Carol McDaniel & Barbara Wolf, son, Brian Davidson and his first wife, Karen Davidson.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Connie Tucker Davidson; daughter, Wendy S. Davidson; step son, Adam Smith and step daughter, Sara Caldwell; grandchildren, Tabatha & Amanda Davidson, Halie Bowden Forthman and Lane Smith; great grandchildren, Skylar Davidson, Michael Culbertson, and Raelyn Forthman; brothers, Jimmy Davidson and James Hamilton; sisters, Phyllis Davidson, Mary Benson, Sharon Walker, Jenny Peiffer, and Pam Davidson.                                                        

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on October 1, 2016 , at the former Charlotte County Speedway. On Piper Road, in  Punta Gorda, Fl. 33950.

A second memorial will be held for friends and family in Fort White, Florida at a later date (to be announced)
