James Harrison “Harry” Guerry, 77 of Lake City, passed away on October 13, 2017 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Theo Lee Guerry and Eloise Fralick Guerry. Mr. Guerry was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1959, and also the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas in 1963. He served in the Florida National Guard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City. Mr. Guerry was the owner of the Harry Guerry Funeral Home for several years and also the Forest Hills Construction Company in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and serving his community as a Licensed Funeral Director for many years. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nina Ann Guerry Espenship.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lee “Pat” Guerry, Lake City; his son, Bryan Guerry (Candace), Lake City; four daughters, Marcia Umstead (Danny), Leslie Guerry, Jennifer Rosado and Becky Cade all of Lake City; two brothers, Ted L. Guerry, Sr. (Amy), Lake City and William L. “Bill” Guerry (Diane), Macclenny; two sisters, Lora E. Smith and Barbara Allinder (Joe) both of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Whigham (Tommy) and Mary Gene Knabb both of Lake City; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bass, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lake City at 182 NE Justice St., Lake City, FL 32055.
