Helen Josephine Wilson

July 19, 1921 ~ April 25, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Mrs. Helen J. Wilson, 94 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City.  She was born in St. Louis, MO to the late James and Helen Belcher Wallace.  Mrs. Wilson was raised in St. Louis, MO and met and married her late husband of 48 years, Mr. Lee R. Wilson, on December 31, 1939.  She had made Lake City her home for the past 28 years having previously lived in Miami for 35 years.  Mrs. Wilson was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage and listening to music.  She was an excellent cook, enjoyed dancing when she was younger and she loved animals. Mrs. Wilson was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Wilson in 2015, her brother, Leonard Wallace and her sister, Mildred Brentlinger.

 

Survivors include her son, David L. Wilson (Edith), Lake City; her daughter, Linda Cason (Tony), White Springs; her daughter in law, Edie Wilson, Brooksville; four grandchildren, Cyndee Wilson, Largo, Danny Wilson (Mamo), Washington, DC, Gina Wilson, Brooksville and Jennifer Wilson, Macclenny; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Witt, pastor of White Springs Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055
