George Ismeal Kercadó, 84, passed away on October 24, 2016 at the Avalon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. George was the son of the late Rafael and Angelina [Lerchundy] Kercadó and had lived in Lake City for the past 19 years. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He held two things most dear during his life. Devotion to his family and great pride in being a U.S. Citizen. George was an experienced auto-body repairman and a skilled wood-worker. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ralph and Hector Kercadó, sisters, Elisa Isabel and Gladys Garza and his son, Francisco Kercadó.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Rachel Kercadó of Lake City, FL; daughter, Angelina (Craig) Holder of Lake City, FL; brother, Joseph (Marion) Kercadó of New York; sister, Rachel (Danny) Mari of Long Island, NY; grandchildren, Lydia, Geoffroy, Christina (Nate), Richard (Patricia); great grandchildren, Ashton, Mara, Jayna, Aayla, Jason, Anthony, Rachel, and Ryann* on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016, in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with his grandson, Pastor Richard Holder officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday evening, October 27, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Florida, at a later date.
